To little me

During those three years, I moved from a studio in Xi'an to study in Beijing, leaving home to face the heavy load of exam prep alone and experiencing long stretches of loneliness. Looking back, I’m still grateful for all the hard work I put in back then. That was a time when my face was covered in charcoal dust, I sharpened pencils for years, and my clothes were always smeared with gouache. I could only sleep 4 to 6 hours a day, spending the rest of my time painting. I really resented the competition back then, which made me feel useless at times. But I did lay a solid foundation for academic painting. Compared to contemporary Western art education, China focuses more on the basics. Still, the intense competition kind of killed my creative drive, making me never want to paint on an easel again. I hope that one day I can pick up my brush again and also know when to put it down.

I didn’t manage to document proper back then, cause I’m a bit depression and think I’m a useless person, I didn’t value myself too much as an artist, I mean even till now I still have this problem, but slowly trying to fix it,anyway, so now I just have few left for showcase, and I feel actrally looking back I’m really good.
