My project hero

Thanks to myself again, and all my teachers and colleges!

This project is about the psychological trauma and personal growth of East Asian children, and it’s also a reflection of my own life. During my Erasmus master’s program, I met talented classmates from all over the world, and seeing them share stories about personal growth and culture made me want to tell my own story. That’s how this VR animation came about. Although I’ve already graduated smoothly, the final film is still in production, with the plan to finish production by March 2027 and start submitting to film festivals. During the VR production process, I first used UE5360 for rendering, but I found the results unsatisfactory, so I quickly switched to Quill by Smoothstep, a native VR real-time rendering software. The advantage is that for an artist like me, who is good at hand-drawing, it’s really convenient—I can create the environment and then animate directly in it. The downside is that it’s still pretty hard on my eyes because I have to wear the VR headset for long periods of time while working.

Cheers!
